Adios Espana

Waving goodbye to the Portet beach

After the busy weekend of hiking Sierria de Bernia and visiting Valencia, it was back to normal routine: doing the rounds of the town's beaches in the morning before online school in the afternoon.  We had four days left to make the most of summer before heading to the mountains.  Luckily there had not yet been any shark sightings at our favourite beach and the weather was beautiful. We did our SUP and snorkelling in the bay, and we ventured a little further afield (the other side of town) to another beach.  Crystal climbed the big rock that we could see from our balcony and we tried to make sure we had our paperwork in order for the move to France.

I see a fish!

Can't get enough of that crystal clear water

These two spent a lot of time, heads under water, scouring the sea floor, and even finding a mini sting ray and octopus

Enjoying the flat

I went for a few swims, some in the evening, back and forth across the bay

Friday came and Toby turned 8 years old!  He celebrated his birthday by helping us clean out the flat, pack up our bags, hop in the car, drive to Alicante, fly to Geneva, catch the bus to Chamonix, and finally walk the 20 minutes to our new abode.  In between he opened his modest presents, enjoyed a Tim Horton's donut (yes, you read that right, Tim Horton's "Canadian Coffee House" in Alicante airport), and a freshly baked pizza at a food truck in Chamonix.

First glimpse of the mountains

It was a long travel day but we got up at a normal time, had meals at a normal time and went to bed at a normal time, despite having to do a supermarket sweep to prepare for another big weekend.  More of that in the next post...

We made it!  Toby consults his new watch and enjoys his birthday pizza
